How Your New Construction Landscape Gets Built

Five steps from empty lot to final walkthrough.
01Onsite walkthrough of your new lot
We meet you at the property, review the builder's grade, utilities, setbacks, and drainage, and talk through how you actually plan to use the yard. You get a realistic budget range before any design work begins.
    022D plan and 3D rendering
Your lot is measured and drawn to scale. You choose the exact paver line, color, and pattern, wall stone, and plant material, then see the finished yard in photorealistic 3D before construction starts.
    03Approval, HOA, and scheduling
We finalize quantities and pricing off the approved plan, provide the drawings your HOA needs, and lock a start date. Utah build seasons fill early, so scheduling matters more on new construction than anything else.
    04Installation in the right order
Grading and drainage, then hardscape, then irrigation, then soil prep, sod, planting, and lighting. One crew, one schedule, no coordinating five subcontractors yourself.
    05Walkthrough and irrigation training
We program your controller, walk every zone with you, review watering and mowing for new sod, and hand off warranty details for workmanship and materials.

Free Landscape Design, A $2,500 Value

Every full new construction landscape installation includes a complete design package at no cost: a scaled 2D site plan of your actual lot and photorealistic 3D renderings showing your exact pavers, wall stone, plants, and lighting. You approve the finished yard on screen before a machine touches the property, and your HOA gets drawings it can actually review.

What New Construction Landscaping Costs In Salt Lake City

Pricing depends on lot size, slope, and how much hardscape you want. For planning purposes, front yard packages with grading, sprinklers, sod, beds, and trees generally start around $15,000. Full front and back yards on a typical Salt Lake Valley lot most often land between $35,000 and $85,000. Properties with large paver patios, engineered retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, and fire features run higher.

Timing matters as much as budget. Utah's build season is short and new subdivisions schedule out fast in spring, so homeowners who start design in winter get the earliest install dates. If your HOA has a completion deadline after closing, bring it to the walkthrough and we will build the schedule around it.

    New Construction Landscaping Questions

How soon after moving into a new home should I landscape?
As soon as the exterior work and heavy equipment are finished. Waiting a full season usually means erosion, weed establishment, settling around the foundation, and drainage problems that cost money to undo. Many Utah HOAs also require front yard landscaping to be complete within a set window after closing, often six to twelve months.
Do you handle drainage and grading, or just the landscaping?
Both. Builder rough grade is a starting point, not a finished grade. We reset positive slope away from the foundation, install catch basins, French drains, and swales, and tie in downspouts and window wells before any sod or hardscape is installed.
Can you work with my HOA's landscaping requirements?
Yes. We produce scaled 2D plans and 3D renderings that satisfy architectural review committees across Daybreak, Draper, Herriman, Lehi, and other Salt Lake and Utah County communities, including turf percentage and water wise planting requirements.
How long does a new construction landscape installation take?
Most full yards take two to six weeks on site from break ground to final walkthrough, with design running one to two weeks beforehand. Weather, wall engineering, and material lead times are the usual variables and we flag them before you sign.
